Sizzling Color and a Bit of Bling

Cast on an Island Attitude

Tropical flowers, dramatic sunsets, brilliantly-hued fish… transport your mind to an island paradise through the magic of color in your hands! The small-but-mighty Schachenmayr Tahiti has punchy color to add spice to your summer tops; light fingering weight cotton keeps you cool in the heat. Our featured project this week, Dangling Conversation by Mindy Ross, shows off Tahiti’s ombré color beautifully–and you need only one ball to make the large version (shown in blue.) Save 10% off Tahiti from June 16 – 22, and treat yourself to a tropics-inspired shawl.

Through June: Stacy Charles Stella and Misti Alpaca Pima Silk

Two more featured projects will take you through the end of June: first, the Gatsby Necklace by Shaina Bilow, knit in Stacy Charles Stella. Join me on Sunday, June 26 for a one-session class to make this fabulous and easy necklace–beads, yarn and pattern are included in the class fee of $45. It’s so much fun you’ll want to stock up on Stella at 10% off between June 23 – 29, and knit several for gifts throughout the year! Drop by or call (650) 941-1815 to register.
Misti Alpaca’s Pima Silk–in Tonos and Handpainted color–is one of my favorite yarns for summer. The colors are rich and vibrant, and the sport-weight silk/cotton blend feels both comfy and luxurious. Honey Cowl by Antonia Shankland has an understated stitch pattern that gives a fresh look to the variegated colorways. Pima Silk will be 10% off between June 30 – July 6, then we’ll take a break from featured projects in July to say goodbye to our clearance yarns.

D.I.Y. Color and More…

What’s next for color? Mixing it yourself! Join Laura on Sunday, July 17 for our first-ever Dye Your Own Yarn class–with her expert guidance, you’ll create your very own handpainted skein. We have the younger generation in mind too: our drop-in Knit Club for kids aged 8 – 12 meets every Thursday morning starting June 16. All levels are welcome, and teacher Sara has plenty of ideas to get your kids started on a satisfying, lifelong hobby. Finally, I invite you to join me for Summer Solstice Knit Night next Tuesday, June 21– to celebrate the longest day of the year, the shop will stay open until midnight! Bring your favorite snacks and a charity project to work on, such as these darling preemie hats by Carissa Browning.
