What Knitters Want on Black Friday

Free Time, An Oasis of Yarn…and a Small Sale

Being a small retailer definitely has its advantages, and one of them is choosing to skip the shop-til-you-drop madness of Black Friday and opting instead for the quiet luxury of knitting and crocheting among friends. Drop in on us this weekend and enjoy some time at our table with your favorite project–on Saturday, I’ll also be serving coffee and treats to celebrate Small Business Saturday. I invite you to slow down and savor the things you enjoy; fresh inspiration is on every shelf, with our newest yarns, samples and classes.

New and Knitworthy

Our collection of Shibui yarns keeps growing, and for a short time we have a gorgeous collection of samples to show off the luxurious possibilities. Minimal, sophisticated and absolutely amazing to wear–these are the hallmarks of Shibui’s design aesthetic. From left: Facade scarf in Staccato and Maai; Motif scarf in Dune worn over Truss tunic in Maai and Pebble; Times Square poncho in Pebble.

Every once in a while I find a yarn that checks all the right boxes. Soft? Check. Fluffy but not itchy? Yes. Heavy enough to knit quickly, but not too warm? Check. Beautiful? Absolutely yes. That yarn is aran-weight Katia Cotton Merino, a lovely “caged” yarn with a delicate halo. Spun with 70% cotton and 30% merino wool, it’s perfect for someone with mohair or alpaca sensitivities and will be comfortable all year round. Try it with Churchmouse’s new Twice Reversible Ribbed Poncho for a cozy, on-trend wrap.

Novelties and “Old School” on Sale

Holiday knitting and crochet calls for special yarns, and we’ll have several on sale for 30% off through December 10. Rowan Frost is softly iridescent; Muench Touch Me is velvety rich; Crystal Palace Fizz adds playful texture; Cascade Fixation is light and springy; Frog Tree Meriboo has beautiful drape and sheen; Bergere de France Origin’ Cachemire is an elegant cashmere blend. The sale is for in-stock yarns only, and discounts cannot be combined.

For some of us, the convenience of a PDF pattern will never top the tactile experience of leafing through an actual book. Though styles change, techniques have a much longer shelf life. Fill your library for a fraction of the cover price: all sale books are $5 each or choose 5 books for $15. Finally, I have a limited collection of store samples for sale–for when you have more love than time!
